Dance 1 & 2

Need a fine arts credit?  Dance 1 & 2 are open to anyone who loves to dance or might not know how to dance, but is willing to learn.  In Dance 1 & 2 we learn basic dance skills and emphasize the styles of ballet, modern, jazz, and hip hop.  The skills we learn in Dance 1 & 2 also help reinforce other activities such as sports or theatre.  We perform as a class toward the end of each semester.  If you're nervous about performing, don't worry.  We always make sure you are prepared and feel as comfortable as possible before taking the stage.  Dance 1 & 2 are great classes to meet new friends and you might even find a new hobby.  Come dance with us!

Dance 3

Following Dance 1 & 2 we have an intermediate level course that focuses on improving technical skills in the styles of ballet, modern, jazz, and hip hop.  Students will begin learning the choreographic process.  They will collaborate in small groups to create and perform original works in the winter and spring showcases.  Students develop the concept, select the music, choose the costumes, and design the lighting.

Dance 4HN

Dance 4 is available as an honors level class.  From the foundations provided in previous dance courses, students will be able to take their technical skills to the next level.  Students will work in even smaller groups to choreograph and perform duets/trios.  Through this collaboration, students will develop the concept, select the music, choose the costumes, and design the lighting for their performance.

Dance 5HN

Dance 5 is an honors level class where students have an encapsulation project.  They are all required to choreograph an entire dance independently, which they will teach to their classmates.  This means they will choose the music, lighting, costumes, etc.  Dance 5 students will also perform other students' work in the showcase.
